In this installement of our SkyStories series, meet Egemen Aykol, Finance Associate.

From first impressions of the team to what keeps him motivated day to day, Egemen shares how Skytree’s collaborative culture and climate-driven mission fuel both professional growth and purpose.

Q: What was your first day at Skytree like?

A: My first day at Skytree was truly exciting. As soon as I entered the office, the team’s energy and friendliness helped me let go of all my nerves. I was warmly welcomed, and what stood out the most was how eager everyone on my team was to share their knowledge. This clearly showed that there is a strong sense of teamwork, which is something I deeply value. Additionally, the close and supportive collaboration between departments made me feel that I am truly in the right place

Q: Describe your day-to-day role.

A: As a Finance Associate at Skytree, my day-to-day role involves managing various core financial processes. I’m primarily responsible for reviewing and booking invoices into our system, as well as posting daily bank statements. I also process purchase requests (PRs) coming from other departments and ensure they are handled accurately and efficiently. In this context, I work closely with the Marketing and People & Places teams to align on spending and approvals. My role involves cross-functional communication and a proactive approach to supporting smooth financial operations across the company.

Q: What do you enjoy the most about your work here at Skytree?

A: What I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to collaborate closely with my teammates and manager. This allows me to continuously grow and learn new things, which makes my work more dynamic and enjoyable. Additionally, working at a company that values innovation and strong principles is a great source of motivation for me.

Q: What keeps you motivated to work here at Skytree?

A: What keeps me motivated to work at Skytree is the strong collaboration within the team and the fact that my manager is always approachable and open to communication. I also truly appreciate the company’s flexible and open-minded culture. Being in an environment that actively supports growth not only keeps me motivated but also reinforces my confidence that I can grow and advance within the company.

Q: What makes you proud of being a part of Skytree?

A: What makes me most proud to be part of Skytree is working for a company that is truly committed to creating a more sustainable and cleaner future. The fact that our work contributes to solving aglobal issue like the climate crisis makes this pride even more meaningful to me.

Q: What initially attracted you to Skytree?

A: To be honest, my introduction to Skytree was completely by chance. I was looking for a new job when I came across their vacancy. The job description and position were very similar to what I had been doing, so I decided to apply. While preparing for the first interview, I started researching the company and was impressed by its vision, mission, and how much it had grown over the years. What stood out to me the most, however, was Skytree’s Glassdoor rating and employee reviews. They reflected a workplace where people were genuinely happy and satisfied, which made a strong impression on me.

Q: What do you think is the most exciting part of Skytree’s mission?

A: What excites me most about Skytree’s mission is its ability to turn excess carbon dioxide (CO₂) from a problem into a valuable resource. We're not only cleaning the air, but also providing an on-site, clean, and sustainable CO₂ source for industries like greenhouse agriculture. This approach is both environmentally beneficial and economically sound.
