AMSTERDAM, January 22, 2026—Skytree, a pioneer in direct air capture (DAC) technology, earned the SIVAL D’Or (Gold Award) in the “Production Equipment and Supplies” category at SIVAL 2026 for its Skytree Stratus system

The SIVAL d’Or recognizes the technological breakthrough of Skytree’s proprietary DAC process. Unlike traditional CO2 enrichment that relies on fossil fuel combustion or industrial waste gas, the Skytree Stratus system captures CO2 from the air to provide reliable and fossil-free CO2 to greenhouses.

Triple-award recognition and scientific validation for Skytree’s DAC technology

This victory marks a significant milestone in Skytree’s history, as the company is now the first to win both the Greentech Concept (2023) and Greentech Innovation (2025) awards alongside the prestigious SIVAL d’Or (2026).

The selection process for the SIVAL Innovation Competition is among the most thorough in the agricultural world, focusing on the French and European crop markets. This year, 66 expert contributors, including technical researchers and agricultural scientists, spent weeks drafting 142 detailed reviews to evaluate a competitive field of 67 entries.

This recognition follows previous rigorous independent validation as Skytree’s DAC technology has been tested at Wageningen University & Research (WUR). As part of the IDC CO2 project, the WUR research evaluated the system’s CO2 quality, energy efficiency, and practical integration into greenhouse operations, confirming the technology’s ability to provide a high-purity CO₂ supply essential for maximizing plant photosynthesis. These results show that DAC-CO₂ delivers performance identical to that of traditional fossil-based sources.

A growth opportunity for greenhouses: Onsite CO₂ from the air

Greenhouses depend on carbon dioxide as a vital input to boost crop yields and maintain plant health. Globally, around 10 million metric tons of CO₂ are used in greenhouses annually.

The innovation lies in its modular and energy-efficient design, which allows for:

  • Autonomous CO2 supply: Captures CO₂ onsite, eliminating dependencies on unreliable long-distance or imported CO₂ shipments, reducing the risk of price swings, disruptions and supply shortages.

  • Cost-efficient solution: The system can operate on-demand to capture CO₂ when electricity prices are low and pause during peak prices.

  • Fossil-free source:  Frees growers from emitting CO₂ through their greenhouse operations, generated by fossil-based sources, reducing exposure to future climate regulations.

  • Increased crop yields: Provides a predictable, high-purity supply of CO₂, helping growers optimize conditions for better crop quality and increase crop yield by up to 25%* (validated by WUR). Skytree Stratus can be integrated into the greenhouse environment by thermal energy integration, connected to existing CO₂ distribution piping.

Skytree partners with innovative greenhouse leaders such as Koppert Cress to set new standards with DAC technology. During the SIVAL 2026 event, Skytree exhibited with distribution partner DirectFabAgro to discuss how French growers and agronomists can benefit from Skytree’s solution.

“Winning the SIVAL d’Or proves that the industry is ready to move past fossil-based CO2. This isn’t just an award for our machine, it’s a validation of a new standard for grower resilience. Following our previous wins at GreenTech, this latest recognition confirms that Skytree Stratus is the field-ready solution greenhouses need to take full control of their CO2 while protecting the planet. A big thank you to Damien from DirectFabAgro for the great collaboration with Skytree throughout the event.”

About Skytree

Skytree engineers the CO₂ transition by developing Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology that captures CO₂ from the air and repurposes it for good: whether carbon is reused across different industries or stored permanently.

With over a decade of innovation rooted in the European Space Agency (ESA), Skytree's patented DAC technology transforms atmospheric CO₂ into a valuable resource: powering applications like renewable fuels and chemicals, greenhouses, beverage carbonation and water treatment.

Skytree’s modular DAC machines and unique DAC Park architecture allow companies to deploy in any climate, at scale - offering a bankable path to carbon capture and accelerating the transition to a circular CO₂ economy.
